Kuzma Design… We Make Beautiful Things!
Welcome to Kuzma Design
I come from a family of traditional crafters, my Mother taught me to sew, knit and crochet, my grandmother taught me to embroider and my Father showed me the proper way to use tools and how things went together. If my hands weren’t busy I was bored.
The repetitive process of bead embroidery, picking up beads one or two at a time and sewing them to the fabric backing is very meditative to me. I feel that I’m honoring what was taught to me by my Mother, Grandmother and Father when I was younger.
When I start creating a piece, I have an idea of the materials and colors. Nothing is sketched. That way it evolves into something totally different. I use traditional beading materials like stone cabochons and seed beads. I also like using untraditional items such as vintage jewelry or reclaimed architectural pieces which add an unusual twist and warmth and making them one-of-a-kind works of art. I look to the past for inspiration in such eras as Art Deco,Victorian and Native American.
